Pam Orren grew up in Denver, CO and moved to Minnesota to attend to Macalester College. While the “mountains are in her blood” she stayed here eventually settling in St. Paul.
Pam has dabbled in art since she was a small child. Throughout her early education and continuing in college, she has always taken art classes. While art was her “passion,” social work was her “career.” No matter the daytime career, she continued making forays into the art world during her 40 yr. career. Now as a full time artist, Pam continues to use her skills as a volunteer at the Family Enhancement Center in Minneapolis.
In 1991, Pam financed a trip to France and Spain by selling her custom designed jewelry. Continuing to explore and work in many different mediums, in 2007 she painted a wine barrel for WineFest No. 12 which was auctioned off to benefit the U of MN Children’s Hospital.
Retirement in 2015 opened the door to seriously pursue art full-time, and in the Spring of 2016, she discovered Alcohol Inks. She sold some of her first works at the Roots, Rock & Deep Blues Festival in July, 2016. Pam was the Artist of the Month at Palmers Bar in the Cedar Riverside area last December. In additional to her individual paintings, she has been commissioned to do larger paintings in her unique style and medium.
Pam states “Selling my work is wonderful, but I make art to remind me that life is full of joy.” She shows her work at various art fairs, exhibits, and festivals.
