Lisa Fertig grew up in Duluth where the desire to create was instilled in her since early childhood. The beautiful landscapes and vistas taught her to appreciate the beauty of nature through the ever changing seasons of color.
Lisa received formal training in the Fine Arts Program at the American Academy of Art in Chicago, IL, with further studies at the University of MN, Minneapolis College of Art & Design, and the Atelier Lack in Excelsior, MN. In addition, she has belonged to many art groups, served as Workshop Chair of the Northstar Watercolor Society in the Twin cities, and has continued additional studies, training under nationally renowned artists.
She paints in two distinct styles: representational and abstract. These styles, which may appear irreconcilable, are in fact two aspects of the same journey. For her representational work, she paint her responses to the environment, countryside, shades, shadows, and colors of early morning and late afternoons
Her abstract works takes her ‘inward”. She explores and responds to a progression of thoughts and emotions deep within her mind. Free of visual constraints, the creative process openly manifests itself in successive, unfolding, and spontaneous adventures in color, texture, and composition.
Lisa work is licensed in the greeting card industry, and her work is shown in galleries throughout MN. She has received numerous awards for her work, and her work hangs in many private businesses, and corporations.
