Emily Eaton, a Minneapolis based artist, is inspired by the intersection or fiber art, ceramics, and photography. Her mixed-media artworks allow her to use very different materials in an unexpectant way.
Her BFA in from the Minneapolis College of Art + Design (MCAD) provided her with a solid foundation of deign theory and art appreciation. Her ongoing love for art keep her endlessly curious about new mediums and new ways to express her creative visions. After graduating from MCAD in the mid 90’s, Emily spent 20 years as a pioneer in the interactive communications industry – designing the FIRST websites for companies like Northwest Airlines (now Delta), Marvin windows, and Ecolab!
She worked for the leading design firms in the Twin cities, and then launched her own interactive consulting business June of 2000. She and her business partner grew the business to more than 14 employees, serving many Fortune 500 companies. But, her art and her desire to return to fine art never left her.
In 2013, Emily felt called to seriously return and devote her time to her creative roots in art. Ever since then, she has split her time between creating documentary-style videos for the web, and creating fine art that uses traditional materials in unexpected ways. Her mixed-media work combines her three focuses, photography, creative hand-spun art yarns and weaving fibers, and ceramics.
